Halifax Gold, who were the most consistent team in the HCL this year with a success ratio of over 90%, won the HCL 40 over title for the second time in its history with a big win against Halifax Red on Sunday . Gold led by Amit Joshi had also  won 12 out of 14 T20 round robin games but lost a close game to Halifax Blue in the finals on Saturday. The 40 over series was a different story where they won 6 out of 8 games in round robin and then won the finals. They were also a side where most players were picked to represent the Nova Scotia Provincial Squad (Maritime 40 and Atlantic T20 champions).
On Sunday Anuraj Gupta played a great knock in the finals for Halifax Red (65) but chasing 230 against a strong & consistent bowling attack in gloomy conditions was always a difficult task where he had little support from other batsmen. Batting first Halifax Gold in very difficult and swinging conditions (wet outfield) managed to make 230 with a great opening partnership between Amit Joshi and Mohan Pal. The innings was helped along by an excellent finish by Matt Webb who was also the man of the match (he also bowled 8 overs in a stretch taking the big wicket of Gupta) which sealed the game for Gold with a big margin of 87 runs.
