Cricket Canada coach Gus Logie is focused on November's WT20 Qualifiers

Canada coach Gus Logie reflects on the victory over UAE in the 50 over friendly match in Abu Dhabi:

From all accounts, the warm up win vs UAE would have done the player's confidence a world of good. Having worked very hard over the last few days since arriving in the UAE and without the services of wicket keeper Hamza Tariq and top order batter Ruvindu Gunasekera (both in transit due to educational commitments), we posted a low total of 137 from 33.5 overs.  Nitish Kumar top scored with 32 runs.

The most pleasing aspect of the team's approach was the belief that the low total could be defended and with Junaid Siddiqui leading the way with four wickets and well supported by Henry Osinde, Nikhil Dhutta, Manny Aulakh, and some agile team fielding, the end result was positive.

The staff and players are aware that much tougher opposition is ahead of us and a more responsible approach to batting will be required as we continue our progress toward November's World T20 Qualifiers.

We are looking forward to the rest of the players arriving today and trust they will play a positive role in the two day match that takes place on Friday.  Ireland are a top flight associate unit and competition against them will give us another opportunity to find our best form prior to taking on the Kenyans early next week.
